Mysore, June 3- The government has issued orders after framing rules of admission to first Pre-University class in government colleges as well as aided and un-aided colleges for 2002-03. The order also stipulates admissions for 80 per cent seats based on merit by following roaster system.
Managements of aided colleges have the authority to allot 20 per cent seats according to the new government order.
Provision has been made for the minority institutions to allot 50 per cent of the total available seats to their own community. The order clearly states that the rest of the seats must be allotted according to merit.
Un-aided private colleges have been given the authority to distribute 50 per cent of the total number of seats. The remaining seats must be allotted according to merit.
In case seats remain even after the deadline for admission as per schedule is crossed, seats may be given to applicants seeking admission.
These seats may be given to those who succeed in the ensuing SSLC examination in July. The government has made it mandatory for the composite junior colleges to give PUC seats on priority to those who pass SSLC examination from the same college.
The government has stipulated that the sum of the monthly tuition fee paid must not exceed the 12-month total to be paid.
Applications for admission must be given for at least five days from the date of announcement of SSLC results, that is from June1.
The order also states that the managements must arrange to give the application forms for at least four hours every day.
Commissioner of Public Instruction Mr. T.M. Vijaybhaskar has informed that the applicants may complain to the District-level Regulatory Authority under the Deputy Commissioner of the respective district, in case the managements of the colleges violated these rules.
