Eve-teasing leads to clash near city college

Mysore, July 26- Tension prevailed for some time in the premises of St. Philomena's College here on Wednesday, as two groups of students clashed over eve-teasing.

A girl student who came out at 1.30 pm on Wednesday after attending classes was teased by a student of another college leading to the clash between the groups.

On learning about the eve-teasing, some youth armed with clubs, choppers and cycle chains from nearby areas arrived on the scene.

An autorickshaw driver with his vehicle parked near a road-side shop opposite the college, upon witnessing the clash, informed the Garuda Police over phone. The groups fled on noticing the Garuda Police.

Later, another group came to the spot in cars and mobikes, looked around the college and left as there was none.

The incident assumed abnormal proportions, as the youth involved in the clash were reportedly associated with a political leader.

Although the clash led to tension, neither the college Principal nor any faculty arrived on the scene.

Garuda Police were on beat in the vicinity of the college for some time and withdrew from the scene after peace was restored.-BRS
