Mysore, July 26- The Youth Congress was pursuing a pro-gramme of greening
with the long range objective of preserving life forms through creating
awareness about environment among the people in the entire State, KPYCC
President and MLA Mr. Dinesh Gundu Rao has said.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Festival of Planting Saplings
(Greening) in the D. Devraj Urs Multipurpose Sports Complex in Doddakere
Maidan here under the auspices of City Youth Congress. He planted a
sapling before addressing the congregation.
This programme of greening progressing all over the State led by heads of
mutts is association with Karnataka Government's Forest Development Trust
was not new to the Youth Congress. Started 25 years ago when Sanjay Gandhi
was leading the Youth Congress, this programme had become an integral part
of the Youth Congress, he recalled.
The Youth Congress was not limiting its work-efficiency to planting the
saplings but its different wings were also assuming responsibility of
working for their growth into healthy trees. The co-operation and
involvement of all the people in this valuable task was necessary.
The Youth Congress by planting lakhs of saplings all over the State was
creating awareness towards social service and natural environment, Mr.
Dinesh Gundu Rao said.
Speaking on the occasion, Karnataka Exhibition Authority Chairman Mr. R.
Raghu expressed his happiness about the launch of the greening programme
in the Exhibition premises.

Chikkanna, KPYCC office-bearers Mr. Vihas Karthik, Mr. Somashekhar, Mr.
Abdul Wajid, Mr. Natraj, Mr. Manjunath, Mr. L.D. Ravi, Exhibition
Authority Chief Executive Mr. Thammaiah, Chamaraja Ashraya Committee
member Mr. Nizamuddin, Youth award winner Mr. Ramesh, Environment
Sub-Committee Chairman Mr. Dinesh and others were on the dais.
District Youth Congress President Mr. Honnaiah welcomed. Vidyaranya Block
