Mysore, July 26- Retired High Court Judge Mr. Justice H.G. Balakrishna
today cautioned the people against the colonial attitude of Sangh Parivar
which divide the country on communal lines to gain power.
He was speaking after inaugurating the seminar on Centenary of Reservation
system and 128th birth anniversary of Shahu Maharaj (pioneer of
reservation in Maharashtra) under the auspices of Bahujana Vidyarthi
Sangha (BVS) this morning at Nanjaraj Bahadur Choultry here.
The retired Judge said that the Sangh Parivar elements were earlier
working for money and business, but now they were fighting to retain
political power.
Mr. Justice Balakrishna contradicted the general belief about the British
accusing them of adopting 'divide and rule' policy.
"It was the elements like Sangh Parivar which divided the people and
foreigners ruled us," he observed.
He called upon the people to eliminate such elements.
Good politics and good politicians had become rare commodities in our
country. Politicians did not think beyond acquiring power. Bureaucracy was
polluted by criminalisation of politics, he added.
Corruption
Institutional corruption was everywhere. These was no answer to the
question: Who are our leaders of tomorrow?
Dalits were getting their due only because of Constitutional and
Legislative thinking. The real AIDS bugging the country was the virulent
divisiveness on caste basis, resulting in differentiation among human
beings.
Vedas and Upanishads were misinterpreted by a particular class of society
to dominate the others, subjecting them to mental slavery, he said.
President of BVS Mr. Krishnamurthy Chamaram presided. Dr. Vijayanarasimha,
Secretary of Channapattana Justice Sangha and Dr. Bangaru, Secretary,
Chamarajanagar Justice Sangha were the chief guests.
Research scholars in the University of Mysore, Manasagangotri, Ms. Girija
M. Murthy and Mr. Shiva Kumar presented their papers on reservation.-RR&BRS
