Exam bungling: Student leaders meet on July 23

Mysore, July 20- Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat (ABVP) has demanded immediate action against the Registrar (Evaluation) of University of Mysore Mr. Shantharaj, alleging that he was directly responsible for delay in announcing results of degree, engineering, medical and other examinations, errors in results and mistakes in makrs cards causing confusion and other acts harming the future of students.

Disclosing this at a press meet here on Thursday last, the ABVP Joint Secretary Mr. S. Sharath charged that the University authorities were toying with the students' future by not announcing the results even as nearly six months had lapsed after the examinations in engineering and medicine.

Results were announced in a hurry as a result of protest by ABVP when the students of degree courses in the four districts in the jurisdiction of University of Mysore had become anxious because of delay in the announcement of results. Many mistakes and confusion were observed. In spite of appearance in the final degree examination, many students had been shown in the marks card as absent. Students who had passed the examinations of the previous year were shown as failed in this year's marks card. Due to these lapses, the future of students was in doldrum, Mr. Sharath complained.

A meeting of student leaders of graduate and post-graduate courses in the University of Mysore has been called at 3 pm on July 23 in Hotel Govardhan to discuss the problems in the examination wing of the University, the scandals in the University, the undue hurry in introducing the semester system and other matters and decide the future course of action, he disclosed.-BRS.
