KSTDC takes over KRS gate collection

Mysore, July 13- Water Resources Minister Mr. H.K. Patil disclosed in the Legislative Assembly yesterday that the gate collection and management contract of Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) had been awarded to the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC).

Answering a query posed by MLA Mr. A. Ramdas, he said the contract was awarded to Karnataka Commercial and Industrial Corporation for Rs. 1.5 cr.

The current gate collection contract has been awarded to the KSTDC for Rs. 3.2 cr. A total of 29.55 lakh tourists visited Brindavan Gardens during the past 3 years and Rs. 4.99 cr. was collected as entrance fees, the Minister disclosed.

Repair works on the dam will be taken up by the new management. Replacement of electric bulbs, provision of drinking water and repair of toilets have been taken car of, Mr. Patil informed.

Rs. 1.5 cr. had been spent on these repairs, he said adding that the Government had been informed about the existing power problem.-VG&KMS
