Gundlupet MLA's plea

Mysore July 6- JD(U) MLA from Gundlupet taluk Mr. H.S. Mahadeva Prasad has demanded that the taluk be declared as a drought hit area and provide relief to the farmers immediately as no sowing has been done because of failure of monsoon.

Mr. Prasad was speaking at a press meet in Hotel Siddhartha here this morning.

He has also urged that Kugaluru Lift Irrigation project be included in the survey of Gundlupet second stage Lift Irrigation project which was in progress to enable water supply to 15,000 acres in the taluk.

Being at an altitude of 2620 ft. above mean sea-level, the taluk had no access to any river water, he informed, adding that it received a maximum rainfall of 15 to 20 inches in a whole year.

He urged the Chamarajanagar District In-charge Minister Mr. Raju Gowda to work for the development of the district without any party bias, where practically no improvement had taken place after it was newly formed.

Former President of Chamarajanagar ZP Mr. Muniraju and ZP member Mr. Shiva Swamy were present.-BLU&BRS
