Lansdowne Building: Corporation Commissioner clarifies

Mysore, June 7- Corporation Commissioner Mr. N. Jayaram today clarified that tenants at Lansdowne Building were given notice to vacate the premises on earlier occasion, but they brought stay orders and continued to run businesses in the building.

He told our reporter that a team of engineers led by Corporation Superintendent Engineer inspected the portion of the lcanopy of the building that collapsed on Tuesday and submit a report by evening. We will refer the case to a reputed private engineer also, to get details on the life of the building and maintenance.

If the building is found to have reached a state of disrepair, we will serve final notices to tenants and ask them to vacate the premises immediately and begins reconstruction works.

Tenants in he lansdowne Building fear that they may not be accommodated again, if they vacate the premises, it is learnt.-VG&RR
