buried alive in wall collapse
Mysore, June 24- A seven-year-old boy was buried alive in Usmania
Block Ghousianagar here this morning, when their toilet wall
collapsed in Udayagiri Police Station limits.
The deceased is identified as Paraman (7), son of Mr. Mushtaq Ahmed
was a II standard student of RBA School.
It is learnt, that the boy was playing with his friends, when the
wall of their toilet that was in a dilapitated condition collapsed.
He died on the spot.
MLA Mr. Tanveer Sait, Corporators Mr. Anwarji, Nasuriddin Babu and
Akram visited the spot and consoled the family members.
Udayagiri Police have registered a case and are investigating.-VG&MK
Burglars held: Ornaments worth Rs. 70,000 recovered
Mandya, June 24- The Anti-Rowdy Squad recently arrested two persons
involved in burglary in Mandya and Mysore and recovered gold
ornaments worth Rs. 70,000 from them.
The arrested Shivanna alias Shiva and Raju have been remanded to
judicial custody.
The duo were arrested when they were making good their escape, on
spotting the squad personnel keeping vigil over them. They were
handed over to East Police Station.
On interrogation, the duo confessed that two members of the gang,
who are at large now, had sent a motor cycle stolen from Jigani in
Bangalore to be sold in city. The gang had broken into the house of
Mr. Sukeerthi here and made away with a TV and gold ornaments, which
have been recovered.
The squad has recovered more than half-a-kilo of silver ornaments
and a camera the foursome had stolen from a house in Siddarthanagar.
The accused had made away with gold and silver jewellery from a
house in Srirampura also, police said.
Under the guidance of District Police Superintendent Mr. Amar Kumar
Pandey, ASP Mr. Ravikumar Nayak, and Mandya Sub Division Deputy SP
Mr. K.T. Balakrishna, Anti-Rowdy Squad Chief Mr. M.P. Jayamaruthi
supervised the operations. Mr. H.B. Ramalingaiah, Mr. H.C. Rajappa,
constables Mahadevaiah, Shivamallappa, B.P. Mahadevaiah, Ninganna,
Manjunath, C. Rajashekar, B.J. Ravi, jeep drivers Thammaiah,
Chikkaiah and Chennegowda were part of the investigative team.-VG
Lorry rams into auto: 10 injured
Mysore, June 24- Ten persons including children were injured in a
auto-lorry collision near Toll Gate on Mysore-Bangalore road
yesterday afternoon.
The injured residents of Sunni Chowk, Mandi Mohalla - Sabeen Taj,
26, Nazeema Banu, 22, Sadiq Pasha, 19, Sabeena Banu, 20, Usman, 25,
Zakid Banu, 19, Khayum Pasha, 12, Sabhana Azmi, 15, Tanjal 14, and
Palana, 12 have been admitted to K.R. Hospital, here.
Eye witnesses told Star of Mysore that the goods auto (KL 10-D8714)
was parked by the roadside by the driver who went to answer nature's
call when a lorry (KA 09 8586) rammed into the auto from behind.
They were returning home after attending the Urs programme at
Srirangapatna, it is learnt.
Four of the injured are stated to be critical. N.R. Traffic Police
have seized the lorry and have registered a case in this regard.-RK&VG
